The box fights back every single time

You pull the film, it sticks to itself. You drag it across the little metal teeth and it tears at an angle, so half the sheet is wasted and the roll now has a ragged start you have to pick at next time. Meanwhile there are three battered cardboard boxes in the drawer, and the foil one has a corner missing.

This holds the roll and cuts it for you. Pull out what you need, run the slider across, and you get a straight edge every time.

One slide, one clean cut

• Cling film and plastic wrap
• Aluminum foil
• Baking and parchment paper

Load from the end, clip the roll onto the center spindle, close the lid. Swapping takes about ten seconds.

Size
14.2 x 2.0 x 2.8 in (36 x 5 x 7 cm) on the outside, so a standard 12 in (30 cm) roll fits. Measure yours first if you buy bulk rolls.

Good to know

• ABS plastic, wipe it with a damp cloth
• Keep fingers clear of the blade track when you load a roll
