The puddle behind the faucet is the one you always forget

You wipe the counter, you wipe the basin, and the strip of stone behind the tap stays wet. Water pools around the base, sits there all day, and over a few weeks it leaves a chalky white ring that no amount of wiping shifts. On a wood or laminate counter it does worse than stain.

This mat sits in that exact spot. Water lands on it instead of the counter, runs down the slope, and goes back into the sink where it belongs.

Why it works

• It slopes toward the sink. The mat is a little higher at the wall and lower at the front, so water moves in one direction instead of collecting.
• The front edge folds over the rim. Whatever it catches drains into the basin rather than sitting on the counter.
• The hole cuts to fit. Moulded rings around the opening let you trim it with scissors to match a wider faucet base.
• Nothing to install. No adhesive, no suction cups, no tools. It sits where you put it and lifts off when you want it gone.
• It holds your bottles. Soap, hand cream and a rinsed toothbrush all sit on it without sliding around.
• Two lengths. 14.4 in (36.5 cm) or 17.5 in (44.4 cm), both 5.4 in (13.7 cm) wide.

Kitchen sinks, bathroom basins, laundry room taps and wet bars. Anywhere a faucet drips onto a surface you would rather keep dry.

Good to know

Made from silicone, 0.4 in (1.1 cm) thick. Measure the space behind your faucet before ordering, because the mat needs to sit flat between the tap and the sink rim. The supplier notes that these dimensions are hand measured and should be treated as a guide. You receive one mat. Scissors and cleaning spray are not included.
